Panchachuli Glacier and Darma Valley, Uttrakhand, India.
Sobla village at 1670mt is the entry point to the Valley and was the
starting point of our trek. We drove down from Vijaypur and first went via
Thal, to Dharchulla - the Indo-Nepal border town. From Dharchula, a
further drive of 35 kms. along the banks of the Dhauli Ganga river took us
to the village of Sobla. From here onwards was a 40 km. trail that passes
through Dar, Bungling, Sela, Nagling, Baaling and Duktu / Dantu village in the Darma
Valley before reaching Phanchachuli Glacier. Camping at the base of
glacier, was an experience of a life time as the majestic view of the Panchuli
2, 3, 4 and 5 from here was breath-taking at all times of day and night. It was ten days of pure bliss spent in the lap of nature!
